Nigeria: A Short History offers an immersive and accessible introduction into Nigeria's complex and compelling past. Drawing on existing scholarship, this book reflects the diverse voices of the peoples and civilisations that have shaped Nigeria over time.

From early kingdoms to the modern day, the book traces how societies have formed and adapted over time, moving across economic, political and everyday life.

With editorial oversight and review by Professor Toyin Falola, the book is to be published by Carolina Academic Press. Its cover features a specially commissioned design by Nigerian multidisciplinary artist, Orry Shenjobi.

The editor's review

“Although there are several works on Nigerian history, many of which are primarily intended for academic audiences, this book is refreshingly relevant and engages the reader from start to finish due to its expert weaving of narratives derived from a thorough analysis of the country's core historical issues... Its robust retelling is persuasive and compelling.”
